Technical Lead Software Engineer (Java/AWS) 

Our client is seeking a Technical Lead to join their company for a contract-to-hire position that is hybrid. The Lead engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping the development, testing, and release processes for the company’s platforms.

  • Location: Hybrid in San Diego, CA or Pembroke Pines, FL 

  • Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $85-95/hr during contract and $160,000-180,000 after conversion plus benefits 

 

What You’ll Do:  

  • Provide leadership by developing and maintaining code, supporting B2B, B2C, and B2B2C customer-facing platforms. 

  • Develop innovative solutions for new and existing customers and distribution channels. 

  • Work closely with technical leads, developers, QA, release engineers, architects, business analysts, project managers, technical account managers, and data and security/compliance analysts in a global and culturally diverse environment. 

  • Collaborate with engineering, business operations, product, and commercial teams to deliver key results, establish service standards, and continuously optimize service quality. 

  • Provide technical expertise to implement best practices within the IT Platforms engineering team. 

  • Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Information Security, and technology compliance teams. 

  • Resolve complex platform issues related to security scans, performance tuning, payments, and insurance claims processing. 

  • Advanced hands-on expertise in analysis, coding, troubleshooting, bug fixes, feature enhancements, maintenance, and support. 

  • Extensive experience with CI/CD systems and processes in a microservices AWS Cloud environment. 

  • Proficient in Agile Scrum methodology with experience in epic/story creation using Jira. 

  • Proven ability to lead a global team of over 50 internal and external Managed Service Providers. 

  • Experience working with external channel partners, customers, and third-party technology vendors to ensure 24/7 support, escalation handling, troubleshooting, and triage. 

What Gets You the Job:  

  • 5-10 years in Software Engineering. 

  • Strong experience with Spring Boot, JEE, IoC/DI, JPA, and Hibernate. 

  • Proficient in AWS services and infrastructure, including AWS SQS, SNS, Lambda, API Gateway/Portal, Route 53, EBS, Fargate, CloudFormation, and Terraform. 

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, branch management, release builds, Jenkins, and Bitbucket. 

  • Experienced in applying Agile methodologies to the SDLC using Jira and Confluence. 

  • Experience with JBoss 7.0 or Wildfly, JMS, HornetMQ, and RabbitMQ. 

  • Excellent understanding of design patterns, coding methods, and best practices. 

  • Hands-on technical troubleshooting experience and collaboration with QA engineers to develop test cases and test plans. 

  • Experience in developing RESTful and SOAP APIs within a microservices architecture on AWS Cloud. 

  • Proficient with MSSQL, MySQL/Aurora, and NoSQL/DynamoDB. 

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React.js and ExtJS.
