VP, Technology Portfolio & Tooling
Our client is seeking a VP, Tool Management to lead the strategy, governance, and lifecycle management of a large enterprise technology tooling portfolio. This newly created role will partner across engineering, architecture, security, procurement, risk, and business teams to evaluate technology investments, reduce redundancy, optimize costs, and ensure tools align with enterprise standards and business needs.

- Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA – Hybrid, onsite Tuesday through Thursday
- Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $170,000 – $200,000 base salary + bonus

What You’ll Do:
- Manage the full lifecycle of enterprise technology tools, including evaluation, selection, onboarding, standardization, rationalization, licensing, and retirement.
- Lead the evaluation of new technology tools and establish a consistent process for assessing capabilities, costs, business value, technical fit, and potential overlap with existing platforms.
- Analyze tool usage, licensing, spend, utilization, contracts, and ROI to identify consolidation and cost-optimization opportunities and support budgeting and forecasting.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Security, Risk, Procurement, and Vendor Management to align the tooling portfolio with technology standards, regulatory requirements, and target-state architecture.
- Govern software licenses, subscriptions, entitlements, vendor relationships, renewals, and portfolio inventory while driving adoption of consistent tooling standards across the organization.
What Gets You the Job:
- 8+ years of experience in technology operations, engineering tooling, IT asset/software license management, or a related discipline, including experience managing enterprise technology tool portfolios and SaaS/software lifecycles at scale.
- Strong technical understanding of DevOps and SDLC tooling, including areas such as source control, CI/CD, artifact management, observability, and enterprise technology-stack standards.
- Experience with software asset management practices, licensing, vendor audits and true-ups, along with strong vendor, contract, negotiation, and renewal management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating tool usage, consumption, spend, demand, and ROI to support portfolio rationalization, forecasting, budgeting, and cost optimization.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, architecture, security, risk, procurement, and business teams; financial services experience and familiarity with ITIL, SOX, ISO/IEC 19770, SAM/ITAM platforms, and FinOps practices are valuable.
