Microsoft 365 Security Consultant (Part-Time / Contract)

Our client is seeking a senior Microsoft 365 Security Consultant to lead a focused security assessment and remediation engagement following a recent migration from Google Workspace. This is a consulting engagement centered on evaluating the organization’s current Microsoft 365 security posture, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing best-practice security controls, and delivering strategic recommendations. This is not a day-to-day Microsoft 365 administration role.

  • Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $60-90/hr

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform a comprehensive security assessment of the client’s Microsoft 365 tenant, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, and MFA configurations.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and opportunities to strengthen the organization’s overall Microsoft 365 security posture.
  • Review and optimize email security, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, anti-phishing, anti-spam, Safe Links, and Safe Attachments policies.
  • Implement security hardening recommendations where appropriate and provide detailed documentation with prioritized remediation plans.
  • Meet virtually with business stakeholders to present findings, explain security risks in business-friendly language, and provide actionable recommendations.

What Gets You the Job: 

  • Qualifications Proven experience leading Microsoft 365 security assessment and remediation engagements, evaluating existing environments, identifying security gaps, and delivering prioritized recommendations that strengthen an organization’s overall security posture.
  • Deep expertise architecting and hardening Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, identity protection, and modern authentication. This is not an operational administration role.
  • Demonstrated success investigating phishing, Business Email Compromise (BEC), and email security incidents, with the ability to quickly identify root causes, remediate vulnerabilities, and implement Microsoft security best practices.
  • Strong consulting background with the ability to communicate technical findings to executive and business stakeholders, translate risk into business impact, and confidently lead client discussions from assessment through remediation.
  • Current Microsoft security certifications (SC-100, SC-300, SC-200, or equivalent) are highly preferred, along with experience delivering security consulting engagements for small to mid-sized organizations.
