Backend PHP Engineer

We are seeking a PHP Backend Developer with project coordination experience to support our backend and platform initiatives. This role is primarily hands-on backend engineering, ideal for someone who enjoys building and supporting production systems while also helping coordinate execution across distributed teams. The ideal candidate is technically strong in PHP/Laravel, comfortable debugging production systems, and experienced collaborating with offshore or distributed engineering teams.

Location: Remote – Must work EST hours
Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $50-55/hour W2
6-month contract potential for extension

What You’ll Do:

Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP (Laravel)
Collaborate with offshore and distributed engineering teams to ensure clear requirements and task execution.
Build and support third-party integrations (e.g., Boberdoo, Five9, Zoho, Twilio, and similar platforms).
Review offshore deliverables for quality, completeness, and alignment with standards.
Review backend implementations for correctness, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

What Gets You the Job:

4–6 years of professional PHP backend development experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Laravel or Laravel-based systems.
Experience building RESTful APIs and supporting third-party integrations.
Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL).
Strong debugging skills and comfort working in production systems.
Experience collaborating with offshore or distributed engineering teams.
