Software Category Specialist

Job Type: Contract (12 months)
Location: US Remote (Eastern work hours)
Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $68 -73/hr W2 plus benefits

What You’ll Do:
- Guide the development and execution of sub-category strategies-spanning enterprise applications, SaaS, AI tooling, and cloud solutions-in close collaboration with the Category Director and cross-functional teams.
- Partner with Technology, Procurement, Risk, and Finance stakeholders to understand evolving business needs and design forward-looking sourcing strategies that optimize cost and performance.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve software asset utilization, deepen vendor relationships, and enhance supplier performance through data-driven analysis and market intelligence.
- Oversee Software Asset Management (SAM) tools to maintain license compliance, increase spend visibility, and support financial controls across the software portfolio.
- Lead cross-functional workstreams-including spend analysis, market and supplier assessments, negotiation strategy, and executive-level presentations-to advance the Firm’s strategic software priorities.
What Gets You the Job:
- 5+ years of Software Category Management or Procurement experience, specifically with enterprise applications, SaaS, licensing, or cloud solutions.
- Proven ability to develop category strategies, supplier management plans, and executive-ready deliverables such as PowerPoint decks, Excel models, and written analyses.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to solving complex procurement and sourcing challenges.
- Excellent communication skills-verbal and written-with the ability to tailor your message to diverse audiences and senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management and organizational capabilities, with the ability to operate independently in a complex, fast-paced environment. Undergraduate or advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) preferred.
