Software Procurement Specialist
Our client is seeking a Software Procurement Specialist to join their company for a 12-month contract. The Specialist will support the Software Category Program within the Technology portfolio, overseeing targeted spend, supplier ecosystems, and third-party partnerships to advance the Firm’s strategic and operational priorities.
- Location: Remote (Eastern work hours)
- Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $70-75/hr W2 plus benefits
- The client is not open to C2C. This contract must be W2.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the Firm’s Software Category Program within the Technology portfolio, managing targeted spend, supplier ecosystems, and strategic third-party partnerships to advance business objectives.
- Develop and execute sub-category strategies for enterprise applications, SaaS, AI tooling, cloud solutions, and developer platforms in alignment with overall category goals.
- Partner with Technology, Procurement, Risk, and Finance teams to understand business needs and design sourcing strategies that balance cost, performance, and innovation.
- Identify and drive opportunities to optimize software spend, improve license utilization, and enhance vendor performance through data-driven analysis and market insights.
- Manage relationships with key software vendors and system integrators to ensure high performance, value delivery, and adherence to compliance, sustainability, and risk standards.
- Oversee the effective operation of Software Asset Management (SAM) tools, leveraging insights to maintain license compliance, increase spend visibility, and enable financial controls.
- Conduct category spend analysis, supplier and market assessments, and benchmark studies to inform sourcing models and negotiation strategies.
- Lead or support cross-functional workstreams focused on supplier selection, contract negotiation, and continuous improvement of software procurement processes.
- Present sourcing recommendations, cost models, and performance reports to senior stakeholders to guide strategic decision-making.
What Gets You the Job:
- Undergraduate degree; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, etc.) or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 5+ years of Software Category Management or Procurement experience (enterprise applications, SaaS, licensing, or cloud).
- Excellent organizational capabilities, with the ability to initiate tasks independently and see them through.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor your style to diverse audiences and seniority levels.
- Proficiency in rational decision-making based on data, facts, and logical reasoning.
- Ability to produce category strategies, supplier management plans, and supporting deliverables (e.g., PowerPoint decks, Excel models, reports, or written analyses).
- Exceptional time management to succeed in a complex and largely autonomous work environment.
- Flexibility to work or attend meetings outside traditional business hours and take on projects with limited notice.
