Our client is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee enterprise-wide risk management programs. This is an exciting opportunity to shape strategy, safeguard operations, and directly influence safety and compliance across a large-scale retail environment. You’ll have the ability to partner with senior leadership, legal, and operations to minimize liabilities, reduce claims exposure, and foster a culture of accountability and prevention.
- Location: Modesto/Merced, CA area – onsite
- Compensation: This job is expected to pay a base salary of about $180k-225k plus generous bonus & benefits

What You’ll Do:
- Lead Workers’ Compensation and General Liability programs, ensuring effective claims management, compliance, and cost control
- Oversee claims, litigation strategy, and insurance program management in collaboration with internal and external counsel
- Partner with operations and EH&S to identify risks, implement safety practices, and drive reduction of incidents and financial exposure
- Deliver executive-level reporting on liability trends and recommend corrective actions
- Provide leadership and development to the Director of Risk Management and Director of EH&S
What Gets You the Job:
- 12+ years of progressive risk management experience, with focus on Workers’ Compensation and General Liability
- 10+ years in senior leadership roles, ideally in retail or multi-unit operations
- Strong knowledge of legal, compliance, OSHA, and safety codes within operational environments
- Proven ability to manage claims, litigation, insurance coverage, and carrier/broker relationships
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
