Lead UX Designer – Development Tooling (Remote)
We are seeking a Lead UX Designerwith a focus on development tooling and platforms to join our cross-disciplinary teams. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, data analysts, and other designers to craft intuitive, efficient, and high-value experiences that enhance how developers and technical teams interact with our tools and platforms.
You will act as the voice of the user, advising on design decisions that impact developer productivity, workflow efficiency, and the overall usability of our internal and external tooling. This is a hands-on role where you will lead research, create prototypes, and deliver UI designs that enable developers to work more effectively.

- Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $60 – $66 per hour plus benefits

What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize developer experiences, APIs, dashboards, and platform tooling.
- Lead user research efforts focused on technical users: frame key questions, plan research, conduct studies, and translate findings into actionable design insights.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate workflows, interactions, and UI concepts to stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Partner with engineers to iterate and refine designs during development, ensuring feasibility and alignment with technical constraints.
- Advocate for best practices in developer experience (DX) and usability across the organization.
- Mentor and coach other team members on UX and design processes, fostering a culture of design thinking within technical teams.
- Collaborate with software developers and architects to review, iterate, and refine product design during development cycles.
- Explore innovative ways to simplify complex workflows and enhance developer efficiency through thoughtful interaction design.
What Gets You the Job:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of similar experience including experience in an enterprise setting.
- Hands-on experience designing digital tools for technical audiences, developer platforms, or internal enterprise tooling.
- Strong user-centered design approach with the ability to iterate quickly based on feedback.
- Proficiency in prototyping and design tools such as Sketch, Figma, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
- Solid understanding of web and mobile interfaces, including dashboards, command-line integrations, and API-driven workflows.
- Experience planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative user research, synthesizing insights into actionable recommendations.
- Familiarity with Agile software development, working closely with engineers and product teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in translating complex technical workflows into intuitive user experiences.
