We are seeking a Director of Business Applications to lead a critical enterprise initiative for a large, global retail organization. This is a direct hire, onsite leadership role focused on driving a major WMS replacement project, beginning with vendor evaluation and RFP.
This role will own the intersection of merchandising systems, supply chain operations, and enterprise applications—ensuring seamless data flow from product setup and planning through distribution center execution. You will lead a growing team while partnering closely with executive leadership to modernize and scale core business systems.
What you’ll do
- Lead the RFP and selection process for a new Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Oversee business applications supporting merchandising, product lifecycle, and supply chain operations
- Ensure seamless integration and data flow between merchandising systems and WMS platforms
- Partner with distribution center operations teams to align technology with operational needs
- Manage and mentor a team of 5–6 (including a manager), with plans to scale the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including IT, supply chain, merchandising, and executive leadership
- Drive system enhancements, process improvements, and long-term application strategy
- Present updates, recommendations, and strategy to C-level leadership
What gets you the job
- 10+ years of experience in IT or business applications, with strong exposure to retail environments
- Deep expertise in merchandising systems such as Aptos, Oracle Retail, Blue Yonder (JDA), or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of product setup, planning, and data flows into WMS and downstream systems
- Experience supporting or leading large-scale system implementations or replacements (WMS experience a plus)
- Proven leadership experience managing and growing teams
- Strong technical foundation combined with business acumen
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, with experience engaging executive stakeholders
