Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to help build and scale a modern analytics platform. This is a highly impactful role for someone who enjoys designing clean, reliable data models and building robust pipelines that power business insights. You will work closely with analysts and stakeholders to deliver trusted, well-documented data assets while helping shape best practices across the data ecosystem.
Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid – near UCI)
Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $65-95/hr

What You’ll Do:
- Design and develop dbt models using medallion architecture patterns (bronze, silver, gold) to support scalable analytics.
- Build and optimize dimensional models, including fact and dimension tables, on Snowflake.
- Implement and maintain data quality tests within dbt, ensuring reliable and accurate data delivery.
- Orchestrate dbt workflows using Dagster, monitor pipeline health, and resolve execution issues.
- Develop and maintain custom Python ingestion pipelines, and collaborate with analysts to document models, logic, and operational processes.
What Gets You the Job:
- Strong SQL skills with experience writing and optimizing analytical queries in Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
- Proficiency in Python for data ingestion, scripting, and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with dbt in a production environment and familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts.
- Experience working with layered data architectures and workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
