Job Description: ETL/ELT Modernization & Snowflake Integration Consultant (3-Month Remote Assignment)
Overview
Our organization—operating in a highly regulated financial services environment—is initiating a strategic modernization effort to transition from legacy Informatica-based data integration to a modular, cloud-native architecture centered around Snowflake. We are seeking a direct independent consultant (no 3rd parties, no subcontracting) with deep financial industry experience to provide architectural guidance, migration strategy, and modernization expertise.
This is a remote, 3-month consulting engagement focused on advisory leadership within financial data ecosystems.
Responsibilities
Snowflake Integration & ETL/ELT Modernization
-
Advise on dividing processing workloads between integration tools and Snowflake ELT, specifically for financial data and regulatory reporting.
-
Identify architectural pitfalls financial institutions face when shifting from Informatica to cloud-native or modular patterns.
-
Recommend modern tool combinations that effectively replace monolithic integration suites in compliance-driven environments.
Data Governance & Data Quality
-
Provide guidance on data quality rule management, metadata lineage, and auditability outside of Informatica—tailored for financial regulatory standards.
-
Define the minimal viable governance footprint for a Snowflake-centric financial data architecture.
Master Data Management (MDM)
-
Recommend practical MDM strategies in Snowflake for customer, product, and reference data without relying on Informatica MDM.
Informatica Suite Replacement Architecture
-
Evaluate the existing Informatica landscape and identify which components financial organizations should unbundle or replace first.
-
Highlight common risks when replacing all-in-one suites with a composable tool ecosystem in regulated sectors.
Vendor & Tooling Strategy
-
Provide insight into modern composable architectures and tooling stacks suitable for financial services.
Migration Planning & Change Management
-
Develop a realistic migration roadmap, including what moves first and last, with a lens on compliance, controls, and operational continuity.
-
Advise on team roles and skill evolution required for financial data teams during transition.
Executive Advisory & Strategic Guidance
-
Identify the top early decisions that set the modernization program up for long-term success.
-
Help leadership define the right questions and evaluation criteria for a future-state financial data integration stack.
Required Experience
-
Financial services industry experience is mandatory.
-
Must be a direct independent consultant — no 3rd parties, agencies, or subcontractors.
-
Extensive experience with Snowflake and modern ELT approaches.
-
Deep background modernizing or replacing Informatica tools (PowerCenter, IDQ, MDM, EDC).
-
Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and regulatory expectations.
-
Expertise with modern integration/ELT tools (dbt, Matillion, Airflow, Fivetran, Talend, Glue, etc.).
-
Prior enterprise consulting experience within regulated financial environments.
