Data Scientist (Retail Pricing)
We have an immediate need for a Data Scientist (Retail Pricing) to join our client for a contract position that is remote capable. This position will lead dynamic pricing and optimization efforts for an e-commerce channel.
Location: Remote. Hybrid in Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA preferred.
This job expects to pay about $80-95/hr (W2 only) plus benefits
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced dynamic pricing models to optimize pricing strategies for e-commerce channel.
- Conduct statistical analyses and machine learning modeling to generate price recommendations that maximize margin and revenue growth.
- Design and execute A/B tests, geo-lift studies, and other experiments to measure the causal impact of pricing decisions.
- Leverage retail pricing expertise to perform elasticity modeling, promotional lift analysis, and competitive pricing evaluations.
- Develop and maintain robust forecasting models using time series and regression techniques to support pricing and demand planning.
- Utilize Python and SQL to build, deploy, and maintain scalable pricing tools and data pipelines.
- Present complex findings and pricing strategies to business leaders through clear data storytelling and compelling visualizations.
- Collaborate with the Merchandise Business Insight and Analytics team to support the broader product lifecycle and retail planning initiatives.
What Gets You the Job:
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field.
- Retail Pricing Expertise (4–6+ years): Proven experience developing and optimizing pricing strategies in a retail environment, including elasticity modeling, promotional lift analysis, and competitive pricing insights.
- Advanced Statistical Modeling (4–6+ years): Deep knowledge of predictive modeling techniques such as regression, time series forecasting (e.g., ARIMA, Prophet), causal inference, and machine learning methods (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM) applied to pricing and demand estimation.
- Experimental Design (5+ years): Proficiency in designing and analyzing pricing experiments, including A/B testing, geo-lift studies, and other causal frameworks to measure the impact of pricing changes.
- Python Proficiency (5+ years): Expert-level skills in Python, with demonstrated ability to build scalable, production-ready pricing and forecasting models using libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, and PyMC.
- SQL Expertise (5+ years): Strong command of SQL for querying and manipulating large-scale retail and transactional datasets, with experience building automated data pipelines.
- Data Storytelling (5+ years): Skilled in communicating data-driven recommendations to senior stakeholders through clear, concise storytelling and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or matplotlib.
