Cybersecurity Engineer
Our client is seeking a strategic-minded security engineer to lead detection engineering and SIEM operations while serving as a key escalation point for partners. This is a high-impact role that blends technical oversight, mentorship, and detection engineering—perfect for someone who enjoys enabling others while shaping the future of enterprise-scale threat monitoring.
- Location: Remote – Will work CST hours
- Compensation: $60-68/hour W2
- Duration: 6 month contract-to-hire

What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the escalation point for SIEM and SOAR operations
- Guide detection engineering efforts, including alert creation, tuning, and lifecycle management in Splunk.
- Provide mentorship to junior analysts and help improve triage processes across teams.
- Oversee and influence the direction of Google Chronicle / SecOps automation efforts.
- Participate in after-hours calls when critical SIEM issues or escalations arise.
What Gets You the Job:
- Proven experience with Splunk in a SIEM environment (SME-level preferred).
- Working knowledge of detection engineering, alerting logic, and program lifecycle development.
- Familiarity with SOAR tools such as Google Chronicle or other automation platforms.
- Understanding security operations and triage processes with an analyst mindset.
- Python scripting experience (nice to have, especially with SOAR environments).
