Hands-On Director of Business Intelligence
Location: Irvine, CA (Onsite 4 days/week, 1 remote day)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Overview:
We are seeking a Hands-On Director of Business Intelligence to lead the development and execution of data and analytics solutions across a dynamic enterprise environment. This is a newly created, highly technical leadership role for someone who thrives in both strategy and delivery — combining deep BI expertise with the ability to build, troubleshoot, and optimize end-to-end solutions.
Working closely with small agile project teams (2–4 people), this role will oversee all aspects of the BI stack, including data integration, modeling, and visualization. You’ll collaborate directly with business stakeholders, ensuring the right data is delivered in the right way to drive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of scalable data pipelines and transformations using Boomi, Fivetran, and dbt.
- Design and maintain data models and ELT processes in Snowflake for enterprise reporting.
- Build and support Tableau dashboards for a wide range of business needs — from executive summaries to operational reports.
- Act as a hands-on technical lead across multiple BI initiatives, guiding team members and stepping in to solve complex challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable BI solutions.
- Drive consistency, scalability, and performance across all analytics and reporting workflows.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics roles.
- Strong proficiency with ETL/ELT tools like Boomi, Fivetran, and dbt.
- Deep experience with Snowflake and advanced SQL skills.
- Expert-level knowledge of Tableau — capable of leading the BI strategy and execution (Power BI is not used).
- Ability to lead small project teams, mentor peers, and fill in technical gaps where needed.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with enterprise or retail business domains.
- Familiarity with training, documentation, or promoting BI tool adoption.
