Microsoft Security Architect – Defender & Data Protection
Our client is seeking a senior-level Microsoft Security Architect to lead a focused engagement centered on Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDCA) and Microsoft Defender for Cloud (MDC). This role will drive architecture, deployment, and optimization of cloud security posture, data protection, and governance capabilities within a highly regulated enterprise environment.
This is not a general security engineering role. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience designing and implementing Defender-based security architectures, aligning solutions to regulatory frameworks, and operating within complex hybrid infrastructures.

Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $85-90 per hour W2

What You’ll Do:
- Architect and deploy Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDCA) and Microsoft Defender for Cloud across enterprise environments
- Design and implement cloud security posture management (CSPM), workload protection, and DLP strategies aligned to Zero Trust principles
- Establish data classification, protection, and governance models, including decision accountability (DACI) alignment
- Integrate Defender solutions across hybrid and Azure Arc-connected environments, including non-native Azure workloads
- Conduct security architecture assessments, tune policies, and align deployments to frameworks such as NIST and CIS
What Gets You the Job:
- 8+ years in cybersecurity with 3–5 years architecting and deploying MDCA and 2–3 years deploying Microsoft Defender for Cloud
- Proven hands-on experience implementing DLP, data governance, and cloud application security controls
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud architecture, including Azure Arc in on-prem or multi-cloud environments
- Experience applying enterprise security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO) in regulated environments
- Experience with Microsoft Purview Information Protection (automatic labeling, data classification) preferred
