Director of Security Operations

Our client, a successful financial organization, is seeking a highly experienced Director of Security Operations to lead its Security Operations Center (SOC) and drive continuous improvements in incident response and threat detection. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of security technologies and the ability to lead technical teams to success.

In this role, you will manage a hybrid SOC with a focus on optimizing security response times, automation, and overall effectiveness. You will oversee enterprise-grade tools, partner with an MSSP for 24/7/365 coverage, and spearhead initiatives to enhance security processes and technologies.

Location: Remote – PST | Travel 1-2 times a month to Irvine, CA

This is a full-time job that expect to pay about $150-200k, plus a great benefits package

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and mature the SOC, improving incident response times and enhancing threat detection capabilities.
  • Oversee global 24/7/365 security operations, working with MSSP for comprehensive coverage.
  • Manage the investigation and resolution of security incidents, serving as escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Collaborate with security engineering teams to provide feedback on system capabilities and improvements.
  • Implement and maintain operational playbooks, ensuring compliance with security laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed on the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies to keep security measures current.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure SOC effectiveness and contribution to security goals.

What Gets You The Job: 

  • 10+ years of technical experience in cybersecurity, with 8+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background managing a 24/7 SOC and Security Incident Response teams.
  • Expertise in security technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability scanning, and incident response tools.
  • Familiarity with compliance and risk frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, SSCP, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across business and technical teams.
  • Proven success in process automation and improving security operations through innovation.
