We have an immediate need for a Data Engineer to join a leading data services organization for a 12-18 month contract with potential for conversion to permanent employee. The Data Engineer will assist with a migration from SQL Server to Snowflake Cloud. This person will be responsible for creating new database objects, maintaining existing objects, and producing comprehensive documentation of all developed objects.
Location: Remote
This Job Pays: $50 – 60 per hour
What You Will Do:
- Build ETL tools (extracting, transforming, and loading), storage, and analytics tools.
- Write and modify complex SQL queries, store procedures, views and triggers in addition to the development of other snowflake database objects.
- Perform ad-hoc data queries in response to business needs
- Create and maintain documentation related to applications, data sources, and ETL movement.
- Maintain ELT processes and procedures.
- Review and identify opportunities to optimize SQL queries for optimal performance
- Design, develop, manage, and support all existing job processes to ensure service levels are met.
- Migration of ETL procedures and packages from SQL Servers to Snowflake
What Gets You The Job:
- Experience in mentoring and training team members with SQL, SSIS, SSMS and Snowflake.
- Critical thinker and a team player.
- Problem-solving and architecting skills in cases of unclear requirements.
- Able to troubleshoot issues and failures within SSIS, SSMS and Snowflake
- 5+ years of SQL, SSIS, SSMS and Snowflake
- 2+ years of using AWS
- 2+ years of Java, using in Snowflake procedures
- 2+ years of Visio or lucidchart to be used for creation of documentation is helpful
- Understanding of Sagitta is helpful
